I drove to the west side on Thursday to stay with Mel, so we could hit up the expo early on Friday. This is the largest race I have ever participated in: over 26,000 runners!
You bet I wanted to try the Alter-G treadmill!
Jill feeling the pressure chamber "butt-lift"
Lunch at The Edgewater Hotel: Turkey sandwich with spinach and cranberry chutney. Potato chips--decided not to eat those.
On our way to the bloggy meet-up, my stomach was feeling queasy. Boo. Mel and I were chatting; I was trying to be energetic. Mel turned to me minutes from Spaghetti Works, and asked, "Are you gonna puke?"
Me: "Yup"
Mel: "Can you make it?"
Me: "I think so."
Mel: "You sure?"
Me: "Nope. I better get out."
I ran to the edge of a parking lot proceeded to decorate some wooden crates. 5 times. Pukie Award pre-race?
Mel: "What did you eat that was red?!"
Me: "I think that is the cranberry chutney on my sandwich. That blue over there is the blueberry lara bar. I think that's everything...yep, there's the spinach. Probably, a banana and PB in there somewhere.
I felt better. Not hungry, but I rallied for the bloggy meet up.
Mel addressing the bloggy peeps at Spaghetti Works
Over 30 peeps!
How cute is Megan?!
Amanda and Mel (my race running buddies!)
Don't mind my greasy hair.
Zoe made these AWESOME trading cards of each individual so we mingled for autographs. Kerrie hooked us up with stellar name tags!
Jill photo-bombed Mel and Chelsea having a moment on our way out!
I was smoked! It was a full day, and I was thankful I was only running the half marathon especially after the puking incident. When we got back to Mel's, I ate an English muffin with PB and laid out my running outfit for the next day:
I got the race run-down coming up plus our post-race party.
I'm in the midst of packing for Nebraska (I'm heading out Tuesday), so I apologize for my poor blog commenting of late!
No good on the puking! Blech.

ReplyDeleteSorry, but to keep the award for what is actually for, rewarding someone who gave it all during training or racing, I am going to say no to this one, if it happened after the race, then yes, it counts
ReplyDeleteThough I am majorly impressed that you and Mel stood there and studied it and determined what everything was
